Hello all,

Just dropping in to say "Hi", was referenced to this site from PNW Riders website. Never even knew you guys were here!

I myself have two 10/22's, a Mossberg 500a, and am currently looking to get my son his first plinking rifle for us to enjoy together. Having quite a tough time finding the rifle he wants.

Anyway, greetings to all!

Harold

Heck... you've already got a pair of 10/22's! The best plinker money can buy!

Welcome!

New Member am I :)

I'm an old gun-nut, that really is just starting to have time once again to feel my oats at sharpshooting. I have built a nice little quad rail 10/22 with a t-6 collapsible stock a couple years back. Then went on to add a full size Mil-Dot illumnated scope to a Marlin 30-30. My latest purchase is an 22" Springfield M1A1. Have not yet outfitted it with any rails, optics, or otherwise spoiled the intent of this revered rifle. It is definately lighter than the older m-14 and other m1a, as it has a fiberglass composite stock. Can't wait to start hittin targets at 500+ yards with it. Has anyone here tried the JPE aluminum stocks for these materials? I have read some great reviews (i.e. no re-bedding), but they are pretty pricey.

Sorry if this post ended up in the wrong area. I'm new, remember? ;)

I don't want him to have a semiauto right away. We can work up to that. He's played a little too much Halo for me to let him have a semi right away. I want him to learn to take his time. So, it looks like he's decided on the Henry lever youth. I will say, the boy has taste. That's a really nice rifle. The other ones we were looking at were the new XT youth series from Marlin. The reason we couldn't find them is becasue they're not out yet! I called Marlin on Monday and verified that. Looks like another month or so before they start shipping.
