Hi all, my name is Nathan and I am pretty new to the world of firearms. I currently own two, a Springfield XD .40 Service model and a Bushmaster CAR-15 with red dot sights (brand new!!!) Didn't really grow up around guns, but definitely have grown to love shooting the last couple months. I have my first child on the way, and I am glad that I now have the skill to defend that child and his/her mother.

So it's a pretty boring intro, so I'll throw in my two cents on a controversial issue: I think open carry is pretty stupid. I'm not saying it's not your right, I fully believe it is. However, the attention you get from law enforcement and everyone else probably makes your everyday activities more difficult. And you might get kicked out of half the places you go because the owner doesn't want someone with a gun there (which is there right). Also, I don't want everyone else knowing that I'm carrying. Sure, it might deter a mugger from hitting you, but that means they're going to go after 80-year old grandma who has no chance of defending herself.

Again, open carry is legal in WA and it is your right to do it. I just don't think it's the smartest choice.
