Hey Russ, Good to have you.
Talk a bit about your long range stuff? 1000+yrds? what were you shooting?
I enjoy long range (very much NOT competitively) Most of mine is a M1 Garand with iron sites shooting at rocks the size of a man up to the size of volkswagons.. (granted they look pretty small past 1000)
My ranges typically go from 500-1500 yards shooting at steel plates. I did once shoot out to 2000 yards, and that was an experience in itself. I am a glutton for the 1000+ ranges. I also used to hunt every year and took game at up to 1200 yards. That was how I came to get my competition rifle. Originally I bought it for hunting, but eventually it became my competition gun when I got bought some other rifles. My weapon for long range is an upgraded Brown Precision Pro Hunter, chambered in 7mm Mag. This is one of the guns I will be trying to sell/trade here soon. Most competitions revolved around slow shooting for accuracy, while a few would require speed shooting and accuracy, such as hitting a target at 1000 yards by firing 3 rounds, reloading, and firing another 3 rounds in less than 1 minute.
I also have played around with "long ranges" with my custom 10/22, shooting out to 500 yards. Anything beyond that and the drop is so high and the bullet is to unstable, it is unreliable with a .22LR.
Anyhow, just a little additional info :top:
