Hi, I'm new to this forum, and also a newbie to building firearms 😅 I recently completed milling and assembling my ar 80% lower. Just here to get some input/ advice for my build. Also looking to see if anyone has an upper reciever forsale pistol/ rifle configuration.. Doesn't matter lol

Here's a few pics. By the way I used palmetto arms lower reciever kit.. Minus the lower it self, I bought from the local gun show in Monroe

No spare uppers on this end but keep an eye on Palmetto and SAA and get on their mailing lists. They drop crazy deals every couple weeks or so. Also check out r/gundeals on Reddit, they post stuff constantly from sites all over for sales going on.

Whats your price range for your upper..

Also, are you looking for:
14.5" pinned
12"
20"

Fluted/heavy barrel?

You want to shoot long range, or like 0-300?

We got options.

As of for barrel/ upper, umm idk.. Hahah like I said I'm a newbie so idk some of those things.. But barrel wise looking between 8-12 inches w/ a free floating Handguard. But if I do come accross a rifle upper I'll go for it. But I'm really trying to build my ar platform as a pistol configuration first. For legal reasons and yes somewhere around the price range of 300ish

Ok.. this kind of a big deal.

If you are building a pistol, you need to designate it a pistol, and only ever have it in that configuration..

If you designate a Lower as a Pistol, and assemble it (with a Pistol buffer tube) your fine.. You can then legally purchase and own a pistol length upper.

However, If you ever assemble or reassemble it with a standard buffer tube (which yours appears to be) you cannot legally build it as a pistol EVER.

Additionally.. you cannot legally own a sub 16" configured upper without legally owning a pistol dedicated lower. Stripped (undesignated) lowers count do not count.

I have built several pistols.. and each I purposely bought a stripped lower from a FFL and had the paperwork designated PISTOL. That way if I am ever in questioned, I have the paperwork to support the legal pistol ownership.

With a %80 lower like you have, you will be on your own if you ever end up in court..

Sorry to be harsh, but I don't want you getting in trouble for a dumb mistake.

I love you Josh.

Aside from those things, I was also going to mention that you say you want a pistol but have a rifle BT on it in the pic......

Hahaa.. Gotta keep us all on the level!!

Loosing your gun privileges (and potential jail time) for a honest mistake is nothing to laugh at... Even if you are a noob!!!!

ahh haaa...

Oh okay, well what if it's already engraved pistol before I assembled it??... Lol. did not know that at all but thanks for the info sunofnun. But I swear I saw it somewhere that you can use the rifle buffer tube for pistol configuration tho.. I'll try to find it real quick.

The way yours is setup (and viewable by the internet) it can have a buttstock affixed. Which automatically negates the possibility of it ever being a pistol.
Had you Disabled it (somehow the guy in the video made some kind of cap, and paracord) before assembly you would likely be ok.. but buying a pistol specific buffertube is SAFER.

Keep in mind.. the guy in the vid is giving advice.. as am I.

In the end, if you are in trouble, you will be in court. It will be between you and the judge. How he interprets your use and manufacturing of the gun.. and how the law applies to the situation.

Showing him a video on youtube will likely have little affect on your rights. If you can show paperwork and show receipts and build pictures you will have much more evidence to support your case.

"I didn't know" won't help you.. nor will "I saw it on youtube"

I know it sounds lame.. but honestly you want to do as much as possible to show your intent, and how you did as much as possible to adhere to the letter of the law.

Bla bla bla..

You get what I'm sayin.
