Anyone have any personal recommendations on lasers? I'm looking in to getting one for my Hi-Point 9mm Carbine, but I don't want to break the bank. I'm not super knowledgable in the area of lasers so I was hoping one of you guys might be able to point me in the right direction.

I have a Weaver rail mount NC Star, They are around $20 on Amazon. It is as accurate (as it's shooter) at 15 yards which is where I have the parabellum set because any use of it will likely be within that range. I have fired around 500 rounds with it under my FNS-9, I seldom use it, but to it's credit, it has survived that many shots without breaking or coming out of adjustment.

Personally, I find lasers useless (I could just about stop right there, a reflex sight is way more effective for target aquisitions than a laser IMO) in almost any kind of light. I can actually acquire a target quite a bit faster with my sights, even at really low light, I have awesome Trijion night sights, and would instinctively use them to aquire a target. Take it for a walk through your house at night with your tactical flashlight and see if you even like having a laser, if you ever use it, that's when it's going to come in handy. You'll still need the tactical light to help you through your OODA loop.

If I had to select between the night sights, the flashlight, or the laser, I'd pitch the laser first. I'm considering transplanting the laser over to my shotty and using it in addition to the attached flashlight, it is the implement of choice for midnight hospitality services.

I used to think the same way you do, lasers are neat but not that useful. Unfortunately, when you find yourself surprised and suddenly in a gunfight, your bodies natural reaction is to focus on the threat, not your dot or front sight or whatever. Guys tend to pick up the laser quicker than sights, because your eyes are already focused on the bad guy, but its still slower than getting the gun up and getting to work. It's not "instinctive" to use sights, your body's not wired to instantly focus on a small dot three feet from your face after you've just dumped a bucketful of adrenaline and **** your pants.

I don't have much to offer about lasers for your carbine.
I will add that my LC9 and my P3AT both have laserlyte side mount lasers...and work great, considering both the little pistols have very little to no sight picture.

One with much more experience than mine. In fact, mine is just theoretical, not that I claimed it was more than that, but...

I'm always happy to take wisdom where I can find it, Thanks Brian!
Same here. I'm a badass with paper targets, but otherwise...

Sorry if I sounded like a dick. I have no filter.

Didn't sound like a dick to me at all. It was actually interesting to me. I don't know what I'd really do in a SHTF moment. I can "think" I'd know, but once the adrenaline dumps into the blood stream, who really knows? I'd been intentionally NOT using lasers because I wanted to improve my sighting skills. But now I'm reconsidering a part of my philosophy...

Pretty much my thoughts exactly.

Lasers that work for any carbine are easy to find on ebay. The deal with that is most lasers for firearms are relegated to the 5mw rule from the FDA. Nothing in the United States as far as man portable lasers are concerned and are commercially sold I.E sold by a company can be over 5mw but you can have lab style or gas lasers over that 5mw because they need a plug in to work. That being said. I have sources for high power lasers. that can be adapted for use long long guns. you need a barrel mount, or a ring set up for a picatni rail. such as for a flash light. If your still interested pm me and I will give out detail.

Also any one looking for lasers pm me! I have sources for them, Or will build them for your specifications. Cost for custom builds are 4 percent over the cost of parts.

the nice thing about lasers is the fact it shows your bad habits anticipating recoil the laser shows this, torquing the gun during trigger pull the laser shows this,
it really aids the person your shooting with spot and tell you of your habits

well any one wanting tactical lasers I can build them or show you were to get the best bang for your dollar! greens or 532 nm are great for seeing but the one thing is out doors that every one else can see them as well especially planes and you need to be careful and mindful were you point them just like your fire arm
