Escaping Commiefornia. Need Advice.

Hi All,
My move to Oregon from Commiefornia has been put into overdrive. With the recent gun control bills being introduced here and likely to pass and be signed by Governor Moonbeam, I gotta get out sooner than later. I'm currently getting my home ready for sale. Fortunately, the market here where I live is very hot, right next to the Silicon Valley.
The plan is to start an Aquaponics business. If you don't know what that is, it's the growing of produce and fish together without soil in green houses. It really is the future of food production globally.
So far, I've been researching Eagle Point area because it has a longer growing season. But, I don't know much about the area. I figure my biggest markets would be Medford and Ashland. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Ashland especially will have a high demand for any type of Organic New Age type food. they will also already have a market used to eating the type of food you want to produce. Their winters are cool and dryer then father north. As I remember from going to college there its a much brighter place then farther up north.

Grants Pass, Medford and Ashland are the three biggest food markets in the Southern Oregon area.

I would strongly suggest a field trip to do some serious talking and scouting before making any decisions.

Ashland...Little Leningrad...oops, was that my outside voice?

I think taxes would be lower out towards the Eagle Point area, maybe even find agricultural tax breaks...not so sure about the Ashland area.

Maybe Sams Valley?

I haven't been there in a long time...

Thanks guys. I'm planning a trip to the area in early July. Since I'm big into fishing and hunting, Southern Oregon is looking more and more like a great place for me.

Nate... if Ashland is little Leningrad, then where I am currently in San Mateo Commiefornia, would be little Stalingrad.

Escape from Commiefornia

I escaped my "native state" just over a year ago. I also grew up in Silicon Valley, but relaocated to rural CA in 2002. Lived there until 2012.

Since then I lived/worked in Carson City for 10 months, and now live/work near Salem.

I think you'll enjoy Oregon.
Much freer than CA (please vote to keep it that way), and the people are great.

Hope your move goes well.

You don't need to worry about my vote Pdempsey. I'm a strict Constitutionalist.

Please don't take this personally. Move to Portland, Eugene, Ashland or Corvallis. These cities are the liberal utipoia's of Oregon and became that way because of California immigrants. These people destroyed California and are doing their best to take Oregon down the same path. Don't tell anyone you are from California if you live anywhere else. Lots of year round sunshine in central Oregon except it gets real cold there.

There is a great place for hydrophonics in Sand point Idaho.

I grew up and have lived almost all my life(62 yrs) in a 20 block radius in Portland. Used to be a nice place to live but I am seriously considering escaping. All the city wants for residents is rich, young, tofu eating, bike riding, environmentally sustainable, unarmed sheeple. I once thought it was great, but sadly no more. Looking to move across the river to the north like probably 1\4 million of former Oregonians have done in the last 30 years. There are more native Oregonians in Vancouver WA than native Washingtonians.

Washington is as liberal as Portland. Eastern Oregon or Idaho would be better, OR you could stay and work on educating and changing peoples politics in your area?

Update: The bad news is my business plan has hit major complications. So temporarily, the plan is to move to Portland and look at the surrounding counties as possible markets for aquaponics farming. I will have moved to the outskirts of Portland by mid September.

The good news is AT LEAST I"LL BE OUT OF COMMIEFORNIA soon.
