Moving to Portland

I am a USPSA shooter from the Midwest, and I will be moving to Portland. I'm trying to find information about moving with guns, transporting guns, carrying, joining gun clubs/ranges, pursuing shooting sports, etc. My google-fu isn't that great, so I want to check with you. I'd appreciate any help you can give me!

-- What's the best way to transport my guns? Ship from FFL to FFL, or drive them myself across the country? (I have a small collection.)

-- Where can I learn about Portland and Oregon gun laws? (Something understandable for the laymen -- no law code, please.)

-- What is the process for getting a CC license?

-- I will be renting an apartment or house. Are there laws/regulations I need to watch out for?

-- What are some good clubs/ranges around Portland?

-- Where are the closest USPSA matches?

Thanks!

Drive them yourself across country. No reason to go to any additional expense.

Are you moving to Portland proper?

I found all these myself, but the information contained therein doesn't seem very detailed. I know quite a bit about my current state's gun laws, having taken courses with attorneys. If you follow what Wikipedia says in my state, sooner or later you'll end up in jail charged with a felony, and I'm in a much more permissive state than Oregon. There are a lot of trickiness to law that many gun owners do not know.

If I want to drive my guns across the country, I know of at least one state between here and Oregon in which I cannot stop (attorney's advice). I don't know about the other states.

The Starrett book was published a while ago. Is it still up to date?

well I did what I could for you I've lived here all 56 years so I guess I don't see what's so complicated. The Wiki page pretty much covers what you need to deal with.
