What's wrong with a big, heavy pistol? At least you still have a weapon when it's empty:ciao:

Long story short...I just picked up a full sized Beretta Px4 Storm in 9mm

Like, really like, and I haven't fired a round through it
It has the Beretta designed locked-breech with a rotating barrel system to dissipate recoil energy radially, reducing felt recoil and muzzle rise. It's noticeably smoother/sleeker externally than a 92/96. Controls, feel, external hammer, will all feel traditional Beretta...but Low Fat all across the board. The checkered grips provide positive grip and as far as the overall weight...at 27.7 Oz's (9mm) it's 5.6 Oz's lighter than a 92. Daddy likes!

Nice piece...what is the loop at the bottom of the grip used for? A necklace?

The loop is for a lanyard.

As for the px4 --- I have both the sub compact and full size. Needless to say I love them both. No issues no matter what ammo I run through them and accurate as all hell. Both have nice luminescence night sights as well.

Beretta's are nice. Went out to buy one once. Then I picked up a CZ75 SP-01 and liked it better.

Maybe someday I'll end up with a Beretta.

Maybe the Government will sell off all theirs (M-9's) and I'll be able to buy one cheap.

Same exact thing happened to me -- I was completely convinced I was going to pick up a 92A1 as my next pistol. I'd been shooting it at the range as a rental for a couple of weeks, putting a couple hundred rounds downrange. Loved it. Then one day, the guy behind the counter at Wade's asked me if I'd tried a CZ before. I was game for anything, and a couple hundred rounds downrange with a CZ-75 Phantom later, I'm online at lowpriceguns.com ordering a CZ-75 SP-01 Tactical, and haven't looked back since.

The Baretta is a nice piece of work, I tell you what. but for me, the CZ was a better overall fit.

That 20 round capacity (19+1) on the Tactical is pretty nice too. With a topped off mag in the pistol and two reloads you have over a box of ammo with you, on your belt.

Does anyone know if Beretta has fixed the "easy removal of the slide" problem that was all the talk in years past?

Pure Bullshit, Don't believe the movies, if somebody gets that close to your weapon, you have already failed :thefinger:

Although I agree that anyone getting close enough to remove your Slide has not been dealt with accordingly, the problem was real and has been corrected in subsequent models.

Pure Bullshit and Urban Legend, I think I saw it done by Vin Diesel in xXx and Jet Li in a Lethal Weapon movie? And nothing has changed in subsequent models, unless your referring to the early slide fractures that where first reported by Navy SEAL's after 30,000 rounds? That issue was dealt with in the April of 1988 when slide production was moved to the USA. The early Italian slides contained Tellurium that aided the machining process but made the slides brittle. Or the Beretta engineering change that incorporated an over sized hammer pin with an over sized head which fitted into a groove machined into the slide. Should the slide separate, this would prevent it coming back into the face of the shooter.

I personally know many 1911 fans that to this day are still pissed off about the Beretta M9 replacing the M1911 as the standard-issue side arm for the United States armed forces, they are prolific at propagating myth and urban legend to help bolster their personal opinion/beliefs. Me..I own both :top:

"One of the earliest and best-known US police departments using the Model 92 was the LAPD (Los Angeles Police Department). In 1987, the LAPD authorized either Smith & Wesson or Beretta pistols, with the Model 92 proving by far the more popular choice. Officers were given a three-day course in combat use of the autoloading pistol, and the Model 92s hit the street. As a result of reports that gang members were practicing grabbing the slide of a Beretta 92 and hitting the takedown lever to remove the slide while a police officer held it, there was for a short time some discussion as to whether the Beretta Model 92 was not appropriate for the LAPD. However, the slide removal is basically a stunt that has been incorporated into a few films. Trained officers do not allow dangerous suspects to get that close to their weapon, they are trained in weapons-retention techniques, which can be quite painful to those attempting to snatch their weapon; and the simplest solution if someone attempts to grab an officer’s Beretta 92 is to pull the pistol closer to the body and pull the trigger, sending a bullet into the assailant."
