Replaced my Kel-Tec with a Kahr PM9

As a little history I bought my kel tec p3at new and loved it immediately. 6+1 of 380 and able to go where ever, when ever. I thought I would never get rid of it....til one day I walked in Axel's shop on Division and saw the Kahr PM9 with the black coating over stainless finish and night sights. It was used and came with only the extended 7 rd mag. I had heard nothing but good things if anything at all about the brand up until this point. I continued to go in the shop from time to time to hold it and get better acquainted.

Last week I let go of the p3at. I am sure I will regret it but if I need another one I am sure I will be able to find one. The next day I walked into Axel's and plopped down the cash. I always get excited when buying a new gun but this time it was different. The relationship of a man and his ccw of choice is one of trust. That trust of course has to be earned. Upon my return home I got online and discovered something a little unnerving. The PM9 has had a checkered past of manufacturing defects but not necessarily of being unreliable.

Things like peening barrels and ftf's buzzing around online brought up the question, "had I made a bad decision?" I cleaned it up and looked at my new pistol wanting desperatly for it to be what I wanted. So I took it to the range for the first time today and it was perfect. No ftf, no fte, and accurate! This gun with its little 3" barrel is about on par with a Glock 26 in my personal experience which I also consider to be a very accurate sub compact.

To end I will say that I am keeping a close eye on the barrel and the potential problems, but so far its has met my lofty expectations for a high line subcompact. And yes pictures will follow but you will have to be patient. I am hungry.

Kahr's are great guns. I've fired the PM9 and also found it to be very accurate and controllable for a small package. The only downside is price, Kahr's aren't cheap... but they are quality pistols and worth the $$ if you've got it.

If you did ever want to replace the KelTec, I'd take a long hard look at the Ruger LCP first.

Its funny you bring that up. Sure if you want to save $30 or $40 go to white elephant. They will take the gun out of the case, take your payment, and move on to the next person. Axel takes as much time as each customer needs and he has excellent knowledge. To each their own. If I need ammo I go to White Elephant because of the large selection, but for most of my gun purchases I try to give Axel the first crack at earning my business. He raises Kangaroos! That's gotta be worth something!
I can say what I have because I have purchased from both locations. I enjoy the dialogue and ambiance of Axel's shop 10x more than White Elephant where I always feel rushed and unimportant. The people working their could care less if I am buying 2 1911's or a box of 22 ammo. Axel has a vested and personal interest in ALL his customers IMO.
