hello, I'm new to the site and just wanted to ask some dumb questions. I'm in the market for a cc and wondering if i could get some suggestions as to what to look for and what to avoid needs to be easily concealed not too concerned about having a large caliber.....more looking for something that will easily be concealed and hold anywhere from 10-15 rounds so far i have closely looked at a sw/mp 40 and liked the way it felt when holding it...i have not gotten a chance to fire one yet fwiw...this will be my first cc not a total stranger to weapons as i grew up hunting and such.....just been away from guns for 10+yrs and have never owned any pistols i filed for my cpl recently and just going through the steps of making my first handgun purchase and would like some honest opinions on such.....and because i trust the internet....i'm asking you guys disclaimer: no search features were harmed in the making of this thread |

What price range are you wanting to be in? Personally, I like the H&K USP compact .40, not too big & small enough to conceal fairly easy. USP's are very smooth cycling guns no matter how hot of a load you are firing. |

hmmmmm....guess i have not thought too much on the price range is $500 (+or- 50-100) too little to ask for as far as quality and reliability.....or should i aim for a higher price range? |

Taurus Millennium Pro's have a pretty good reputation for $350.00 to $400.00 Springfield XD's & Glock's are in the $400.00 to $500.00 range From there I really don't have a preference until you get above $700.00, then you get into H&K's, Sig's & high end 1911's. My real suggestion is go to a range that rents guns & fire all the guns that interest you. Buy the one that you are the most comfortable with & has the best record for reliability. This is only my opinion & I'm sure others will post up. | |

Wades gun shop in belvuie offers a class that lets you shoot a lot of different hand guns. They skip over 40 cal though but you can rent just about any cc you would want to try. I really liked the class and greatly improved my accuracy.

im not sure what that means? my gfs step dad is a state trooper and was telling me that they were switching to S&W. so basically since they are getting s&ws they can purchase their h&ks back from the department for non official use?

A Springfield XD Subcompact or Glock 26 would work well. I went with the XD as it holds 13 rounds in the flush fit mag (vs 10 in the Glock) and with the extended mag it holds 16 rounds. Also I can just barely get all fingers on the XD grip with the flush fit mag. On a Glock 26/27, my pinky dangles. YMMV. Wade's is a great place to rent from as they have a huge selection and you can rent one gun, all of one caliber, or everything they have. Just don't actually buy anything from them, as they have the highest prices I've seen in the area. |

just like with a bike, find the one that fits. if it wont fit and you arnt going to carry it, and one left at hone is pointless. Alot of people will talk calibers and other stuff, but even a .22 is slightly more effective than not having one at all. personally wife and I C.C.P. .380 (9mm dia, shorter powder charge) and I have a 45 when I wear enough clothes to cover it. |

donny, get a hold of me if you want a glock 26 or XD .40 subcompact. There are a few at the pawn shop that my fiance works at and I can you get a decent price more than likely. |

ive carried a g19 for years. light, comfy and not too small. fired and carried quite a few weapons, but always went back to the glock. just my opinion. in the end, its what fits your hand and is most comfortable for you. just remember, the smaller the weapon, the bigger the kick, and if you cant hit what your aiming at under pressure, you just have an expensive club on your hip. |

They obviously have suckers willing to pay those prices, so why would they bother? And it's not just guns, EVERYTHING in their store is considerably higher than ANYWHERE else around here. Ammo is often $5 per box of 50 higher than anywhere else. They are blatant price gougers, so fuck them. Oh and I should note this has nothing to do with the ammo shortage etc. They were like that well before any of the insanity started.

ok So this morning i stopped at Champion Arms and looked closely at the sw/mp compact 9 and 40 along with the xd subcompact 40 the xd actually "felt" better in my hand.....but that was just holding them at the counter next step is to go throw a few rounds through each one i guess i'm setting up a day with a close friend soon to go and "test" things out....he has a couple for me to try and without firing either the sw or the xd....its hard to decide thanks for the input |
