Hey all, I was thinking about possibly getting an XD40 I have an XD-9 and I love it so i'm assuming the 40 is an excellent firearm as well. I've been feeling alot better as of late for those that have been watching my sickness thread, so as a little way to celebrate plus a Bday/xmas present to myself I was thinking of getting a pistol. Anyways long story short, Wondering if anyone has a Standard XD-40 and i'm wondering how you like it? If you have any issues with it? One of my buddies bought one a few years ago and had a few issues so I just wanted to hear some input before I go out and buy one.

One of my buddies has the XD40 and loves it. No issues so far, but he hasn't owned it that long yet, prolly a good 1000+ rounds at least though with no hiccups. Something else to consider, Springfield just released a new version of the XDm with a 3.8" barrel instead of the standard 4.5" barrel. Price is sposed to same as standard XDm. The 9mm is out right now with the .40 version out any day now. |

NP I should also add that I own an XDm 9mm, XD9SC, and XD45C. Yet I've always like the feel and balance of my buddy's XD40, I'm just not a fan of .40 in general and don't own any. But after going to Wade's Sunday with another buddy looking to buy a handgun, he rented the XD9 and I really liked it a lot. So much that I'm having a hard time not buying one to add to the collection. I really like my XDm a lot and shoot well with it, but for a nighstand/house gun I really want a Crimson Trace laser grip for it, and they don't make them for the XDm, but they do for the XD. I'm pondering trading my S&W 642 .38 snubby that pretty much collects dust since I got my Ruger LCP to buy the XD9. |

Ya, I love my XD9, Right now i'm trying to decide whether I want another Pistol or Rifle as you saw in the other thread, and now i'm thinking something cheaper like a P22 would be better just for plinking than buying a .40 since I already have the XD9 and the Ruger P90.. It's a tough choice.

I have an XD40 OD Green 5" Fantastic sidearm! Since purchasing the XD my Kimber ProCarry remains in it's .22lr conversion status.. (I'm sure someone is going to shit a brick about this comment but there is a good explanation.) I have zero complaints about the XD. If a person is comfortable with a full frame and has no objections to a composite frame then I suggest purchasing the XD. |
