Man, love this thing already! Tried out a couple others like the XD40 and SD40VE. Picked this one up and it fit my hand like a glove, had the features I wanted plus the balance is outstanding! Going to try it out this weekend then get my concealed carry permit. YEAH!

Nice looking gun. Does this have the new trigger?

Looking forward to a shooting report!

Semi-New to the world of pistols...not sure what "new trigger" you're talking about. It has a two piece trigger if that helps?? Let me do some looking and get back to you.

Also, this does NOT have the mag safety, so I can shoot with the magazine out. The only other pistol experience I have is what's shown below. Ruger Security Six (357-38), JC Higgens .22 9 shooter, and the (now) wife's S&W Lady Smith 9MM.

Ah, I see what you mean about the new trigger now. From what I can find on the internet there is much debate about whether or not they were ever redesigned. I can tell you mine feels very smooth but I will test further this weekend after I put some rounds through it.

I have the subcompact version, and freaking love it!! It'll be my concealed carry in the future.

Nice choice!

I just paid for an incoming M&P Shield in 40 S&W. It should arrive next week. I got it for MSRP so I'm quite happy.

Be wary of the Shield 40 dropping the mag after shooting a round. Apparently S&W will "fix" it (while not acknowledging it as a problem in the first place) free of charge. It's possibly yours won't have this as an issue though, as it could be from a newer run. Just something to watch for.

Yeah I read some reviews saying the same thing. Hopefully the one I'm getting won't have this problem.

Speaking of gun problems, just this Saturday my Ruger LC9 was having failure to feed issues. Some cartridges would do it and some wouldn't and sometimes the cartridges that didn't feed the first time fed just fine the next time I tried racking a round. I've done a little online research and will try a few things but now I just don't trust the LC9. :( I tried to call Ruger but their phone is busy every time I tried. The LC9 only came with one magazine so I don't have another one for troubleshooting. Maybe I'll just email Ruger with pics/video illustrating the problem and see if they can get back to me with a solution.

Curious...

What kind of ammo (reloads, HPs, ball/range)? Have you run a lot of rounds through it? Have you left the mag full for an extended period of time?

I'm wondering if the magazine spring is weak and not pushing the rounds up (happens with ARs and other guns and is a sign to replace the mag).

The only thing I've shot through it is cheap ball ammo, and yes i have left the magazine loaded with Corbon HPs for extended periods of time because it is my ccw.

So I ran 200 rounds through this thing the other weekend. Couldn't hit crap with it until the last 50 rounds or so. It has more trigger pull than the other guns I own and this was causing me to pull to the right when I squeezed. After I got rid of that issue I loved it! I think I will be ordering the hardened sear from Apex though to reduce some of that trigger pull and make it more comfortable for me.

I also found that, unlike our 9MM, when you line the dots in the sights up the top of the front isn't even with the top of the rear. The front is slightly lower than the rear when you're dead nuts on. Combine that issue with the trigger issue and it wasn't very fun for me at first. However, I think that's more n00b issues than anything else. More used to revolvers than semi autos.

We had a quick draw target competition too. I used the little 9MM for it. Targets were bowling pins on boards at 25 yards. Quite interesting!

We also did some speed shooting with pistol and rifle combo. Can't remember the exact name for it but you shoot down 3 different sized tubes at two targets. Can't see both targets from the tube so you have to move! That was the pistol section. Then we moved on to a large piece of plywood with different sized and shaped ports in it and used a .22 caliber rifle to shoot bowling pins. One pin per slot, 4 pins. Last slot has you laying on the ground on your side shooting sideways also.

I'm telling ya, we got some good stuff out here!!

Lucky. When I bought my Glock the next damn day the m&p 9mm fde kit went on sale for the same price... I should have waited.

Yeah, just need more ammo to practice what I learned that weekend. Budget is tight right now what with WMRRA season coming up and us getting completely debt free. Sigh. It will be worth it in the end though!
