came across three new in package OEM Walther magazines at Cabela's in the bargain basement.

originally priced at 59.99 then marked down to 49.99 when i got to the cash register they were actually 29.99

thought hell yes, i stole these things....

came home, out of utter stupidity and amounts of excitement I popped it on in the pistol and it broke the slide stop.

so after looking over the mags they look 99.9% identical...same housing, markings, floor-plates, springs, but i found a little difference, part of the magazine protrudes over the tang on the follower that pushes up the slide stop upon being empty....what are these mags really for?

I plan on just taking a dremmel to the little ear on the magazine and calling it good.....

Walther guru's, thoughts about the magazine on the left?

got a little bored today and fixed what i truly believe is the issue....

question on my mind still is why were the three like that?

you are a better sport about this than I would be.

they were in the bargain basement, not really sure how i can complain...

my stupidity/ignorance with the fact that apparently there is something different is what got me in trouble.
spare part is on order...

i just want to find out what its actually for....

Hey Shelby, I looked through a few of Walthers newer pistols and I couldn't find any OEM or Aftermarket magazines with that additional little ear on them. Have you tried posting a thread over on the Walther forums? That might be your best bet I'm sure someone over there will know. I included a picture of my P99 Mags, the one on the left is a Magnum Research and the one on the right is an OEM Walther Magazine.

i posted there also- got 0 from them.

sent a link to the thread to Earls repair (walther rep) said he had never seen anything like that in 30 years.

also sent link to walther usa, maybe they will make it "right" doubtful but worth an email.

Do they work once you remove that extra little tag/ear?? Honestly even if they work with it removed, I would still be a little nervous about using them, better safe than sorry..

work just fine. literally the same mags other than that extra metal covering the follower.

same springs (orange color swatch) same follower, same floorplate
