I want to buy a .22 pistol that will be awesomely accurate right out of the box. This will strictly be for plinking. Certainly will be adding a red-dot down the road sometime. Almost bought a Ruger Mark III the other night; if it weren't for the 30 minute wait just to talk to one of their sales guys it would be in my safe right now :( Anybody have experiences with the any of the other options? i.e. (beretta neo, s/w 22a, browning buckmark) |

I've owned a couple of the Ruger pistols - both were MKII's and liked both very much. Both were also takget models- 5" bull barrel, and 6 7/8" slabside. The slabside was more accurate than my 10/22T. I will have another, someday.

I've got an oooold Ruger MKI - it's a fun shooter, and still pretty accurate. I'd probably get a Ruger 22/45 if I were in the market right now. 6" bull barrel, and toss a mini red dot sight, and you'd have some good squirrel shootin fun. |

A buddy of mine just bought the Browning today. He was debating between that and the Ruger Mark III. He went with the Browning because the grip was a smidge bigger and felt better in his hand. I on the other hand am strongly considering getting a Walther P22... |

Thanx for the responses guys! Yah the ruger is blatantly looking at me in the face; I'm not one to be a gun fan boy but everyone I've talked to loves the MKs. I'll probably pick one up in the next week or so and post pics. Metonymy... i actually got to hold a p22 a couple days ago. I little small but very nice nonetheless. Just don't get it in the ghastly camouflage design. |

Mine is green frame with the black slide. Bought it to carry when I don't need/want to carry a 40 or 45 and as a host for the suppressor. | |

Ruger MKII 22/45 here, with 5" stainless bull barrel. Wicked accurate out of the box. I'm about to order some Hi-Vis sights from Ruger for it, we'll see how that goes.

Kolat has all the good toys. It didn't look like the ACU... it had a darker camo on it. This is the one want... it's stainless steel and fluted. ![]() I have a red dot scope just waiting for her. |

Hammerilli Trailside, most accurate .22 right out of the box IMHO Thats the factory 25 meter 10 round target to the left |

I have had a Walther P22 for about 3 years and it has worked flawlessly.A little small but nice for a lite concealed carry.:)

Benelli, Ruger, Walther, High Standard, I'll throw this one up against any of them: ![]() For plinking, I don't think you can go wrong with a Mk II or Mk III. The stock triggers universally suck. Get a Volquartsen trigger and sear, call Clark and get an oversized hammer bushing. Total cost is less than $75. Follow the directions from the video on the Volquartsen site for the installation. You won't believe the difference in accuracy you will get from the improved trigger. It will be a terrific pistol for a relatively small investment. |

New S&W Model 41 I sent to Clark Custom Guns for a conversion: 5.5" STC barrel; trigger job, bolt face check (square and dimensions), polish internals, tune magazines, function check and test target. I added the Burris Zee rings and an Ultradot Matchdot scope. Probably will add a set of Nill anatomical grips; although the stock set is very workable. Phenominal shooter; exquisite trigger. The test target was nine shots inside of a half inch at 50 yards (one flyer put the 10 shot group inside 3/4"). It will shoot x's and 10's all day long. If only I could do so well...... |

I love my S&W 22A with the 7" barrel. I got it for $260 at Sportco and upgraded to the laminated target grips. Best cheap accurate target pistol I have owned. Probably not as accurate as my IZH-35 though!
