5.56 reloading

I'm new to reloading and was wondering if there's a difference between reloading a 5.56 round and .223 round? Are different tools and parts needed? I have a Lyman 49th ed. that I have been reading but haven't stumbled upon any 5.56 info yet.

I use 223 small base dies for 5.56x45. It makes the brass just a smidge undersized and makes them easier to chamber in semi-autos.

An example of RCBS sb dies:

Ok thanks. Bi-mart was all out of the small base dies, so i grabbed a set of full length rcbs .223 dies. But I'll keep an eye out for the shorts

Small base dies work the brass a bit more too so make sure to check case length after resizing and trim to spec.
