Hello forum readers, I am interested in purchasing a rifle/shotgun for the first time and I would love some advice from anyone. I'm not sure what I want to do be it skeet shooting or hunting. I know I originally wanted a shotgun but that would limit me to target shooting. I wouldn't mind getting a license to hunt and I think a double barrel would be perfect because it can use it for sporting or hunting. However I don't know how cheap they can get, only how expensive they are. any thoughts, ideas, or advice are appreciated as I won't be making a purchase till the not to far off future so I'll have plenty of time to think about the suggestions given.

any shotgun can be used for hunting of just about anything. pick yourself up a pump gun and a plug and you'll be set to hunt anything from clays to deer. |

You can always go with the ever faithful Remington 870. I know you can get them with 2 barrels (22"+ and an 18"). This might be a good choice for you if you are wanting to do a lot of different things with it.

I figured any gun can be used for any scenario it just depends how good the gunman is. I wanted a shotgun because I only wanted to do target stuff but since I moved to Bellingham I figure there's a lot more freedom to do more things. If I get a pump how far does the range go? | |
