I did a little horse trading today....

This piece has always intriqued me.. so I picked it up. The bastard is UBER light. Fits perfectly in my pocket..

I grew up shooting Smith and Colt 2" pistols.. Had an Agent, a nickel plated Cobra & my dad always had a couple Smith's around. His daily carry is an original Chiefs special.

This J frame is a bit different, however.. it's the 360PD with the scandium frame, so it weighs damn near nothing. That's fine when I'm runnin .38's thru it... but I'm here to tell ya.. .357's are freakin BRUTAL on the hand. I'm no wimp, but holy shheeeaaat. This bugger hurts!

I need to find a set of grips that are a bit bigger.. I'd like 'em to cover the backstrap on top..

Looking at the Pachmayr 3249. Says it fits J frame round butt.. any other ideas?

I had an old German Luger that had been completely re-done.. as in re-blued... poorly at that.
Beautiful piece from 2' away..but obviously worked over when you look closer. Collector value was toast. It's been setting there on consignment for over a year.

I got tired of waiting, and made them an offer.. asked for the 360 + CT grips and a couple boxes of shells... we settled basically at straight across.

Nice piece!

Not really what I think of as a hand canon,

but still a nice piece!

Ok... Pachmayr Decelerator grips make a HUGE difference.. Makes it very managable. I do wish someone made grips just like this, but shorter.. the grips are a bit large for my taste.. it still fits in my pocket easily, but shorter would be better.

I'll keep lookin..

Oh I think a .357 in a lil snubbie definitely counts as a hand cannon!

Ya, I'm sure you're right. I think of a .454 Casull or a .500 S&W as a hand canon, but out of a light little gun like this & bet .357 would have quite a bit of kick to it!

+1 I tried shooting 357 through my Taurus 650:laugh:. My hands were numb for a solid 30 min... Was probably a bit worse due to my severe and disfiguration. So I just shoot 38 out of it, I keep a couple boxes of 357 kicking around, I figure if someone is breaking in, or threatening you, once your adrenaline is kicking in you probably won't even notice how hard on your hands it is..

I have an SP101 with a 2 1/4" barrel in .357 mag (granted, MUCH heavier than this scandium J, but still a small 357), and although I don't shoot it much, when I do, I actually prefer 357's to the 38 sp's. I don't know why, but it seems to shoot more true with the 357's.

I'd like to have an SP101 too.. nice firearm.

This one seems to shoot both quite well. It's just been awhile since I've shot a .357 followed by a .38.. The difference is unreal.

The SP101 is a great gun. I got it for a good price from a co-worker, and it's typically my backpacking gun since it's a bit heavy and bulky for me to CC. Definitely a keeper though!
