looking at the taurus trackers, 4" barrel. I've been eying them for a couple years now. I like the price, I like the feel, I what I've read about them, and I like the idea of shooting .38sp ammo for training/cheaper shooting.

other thoughts are the rugers, same configuration, or S&W

Something small enough to toss in a holster, I *could* conceal it if I needed to, but usually to fit in a backpack or holster, but big enough that I'm not worried about a finishing blow to a big game critter, either out of mercy or fear.

also like the extra capacity the taurus's give vs the others 7 vs 6

i had a taurus .44 special I took in on a trade. It was a shorty (3"?) hammerless. It was quite nice and shot suprisingly well. I never shot it on paper, but had no problem snuffing pop cans at 20 feet with it

after grabbing a few of them recently, I realized I like the ruger gp-100 a lot better, thanks!

I just picked up a Judge Public Defender in Polymer -excellent trigger squeeze, no grit, smooth action...very impressive!

I have it in a cross draw holster for riding.

If I were to buy a revolver that would be the one. I have had a couple of Taurus's in the past and loved them.

I am looking for a Taurus 905 9mm revolver, I also have a Taurus PT24/7 PRO C DS and not a problem in 2 years with around 1000 of my reloads without a misfire. Also have 3 extra 15 rd. magazines...

I've dismantled and assembled many of the Taurus line both revolver and semi-auto. They come from the factory with what I would define as super, super close tolerances, and the level of finish on the machined parts is not Smith & Wesson grade. Look inside the Taurus revolver cylinder chambers. They're left in their final machined state. A Smith & Wesson has a higher level of finish. Makes for a little less smooth removal of spent cartridges.
You may know that the Taurus is a Smith & Wesson clone of sorts as they were under the same corporate ownership back in the 70's.
They are a great value. They just need a lot of break in.
