and yes that is some OLD E in the wine rack.

replace the plastic safety when you get the chance with a metal one. That's pretty much the only thing you need to change on those:rock: If you hunt or like clays, you'll appreciate how reasonable mossberg barrels are compared to Remingtons.

the package came right as i got back from shooting so i havent shot with it yet. the only thing that bugs me is the top notch on the pistol grip blocks the action release button so you have to use your right thumb as opposed to reaching through with your index finger.

That is pretty bad. I've never been tempted to put a pistol grip stock on my mossy, because it makes it near impossible to access the safety from the "ready to rain down hell" position. Can you return it based on the claim that it makes the gun "less safe" by having to reach with your thumb to hit the action release?

i dont mind the actual stock and i don't think its that difficult to reach the safety. I'm thinking about just taking a saw to that last notch and sanding it but i dont know how shitty it will look after.

hows the stock? i need to get a stock for my 500.

I built up a 500-ATP8 with this stock. It's a great stock. Needs a little lube and "exercise" when it's brand new so it will release to fold but otherwise great.

I put the 6-Pack "sidesaddle" ammo holder on mine. 8 in the "tube", 6 on the side, and my nice little "truck gun" comes with some real firepower.

I put the Mossberg ribbed forend on mine for a better grip. Now just looking forward to adding some "ghost ring" sights and perhaps a laser.

I'm not saying in not accessible but I would just rather reach my finger behind the trigger guard and hit it.

I too have a mossberg 500 and love it.

I do have a problem though; the heatshield I bought (ATI Ghost ring heat shield) uses a "friction clamp" on one side and a two-screw clamp on the front. The friction clamp will start to slide up and actually push the shield forward towards the end of the barrel when I begin to fire as fast as I can.

I hate it.

Anyone know a good heat shield that will stay secured to the barrel? Or anyone know a metalsmith who would be able to weld a good clamp system onto it... I'm not sure what to do.

thanks in advance

This "heat shield" is designed to be installed with one screw on either end of the magazine tube support. I had the same issue with my 500ATP-8. If I installed the shield so the rear sight was at the receiver it slid forward under recoil. If I installed it at the front, with one mounting/clamping screw on either side of the support the "ghost ring" was too far forward. I just "86'd" the plastic ghost ring and am now looking to put a receiver mount ghost ring sight on it. Nice thing about a project like this is that I don't have to decide anything quickly.

As for issues with the action release, none at all, just pull the trigger:eek::rofl:
