So Im in the market for a new shotgun, namely for just shooting in the woods, I have a Mossy 590 tactical setup, and I'm wondering if the Rem 870 tactical would be a good choice, it's in my price range but I've yet to fire one.. If i had more $$ I would go for a Benelli M4 but thats about $1000 too much.. Anyways just thought I would get opinions...

I know a lot of troops that slogged through the Jungles of Vietnam with 870's and put their lives on the line with them. If it were my choice I'd go with the 870. You'll find it a lot like the mossberg which also is a fine shotgun. I have a 500ATP-8 that shoots and handles real nice. An 8 round "tube" with a 6 round "Side Saddle" makes for a nice combo.

people who say "mossy" are the types to get mossbergs.

so get one of those.

when you grow up to the point that you can say full words, you'll be a man and require a man's shotgun.

when you reach that point, go get an 870.

Why two tactical setups? If you've already got a Mossberg for zombie defense, why not get something setup for shooting clays etc? Just a thought.

Well I can use the Mossberg for Clays, I can take the barrel off and swap it for a cant remember the size railed barrel for clays/hunting and I can pop the tactical stock off in 5 minutes and put the regular one back on. So I would just like to have a dedicated tactical shotgun.

jfc, you're easy to troll.

both the mossberg and 870 are fine shotguns, both easily surpassed by plenty of even better guns.

870s and 500s are both fine shotguns, i chose the 500 cause the ejector can be replaced with a screwdriver, but the 870 needs to go to an armorer to fix it, but the 870 has more aftermarket accessories, but a 500 aint too far behind in that.

just my .02$...
