I think it'd be a kick in the ass to shoot... and should make an awesome home defense weapon..

Thoughts?

I think a serbu supershorty would be better for home defense

yea having 17 more rounds is nice but if you cant take care of business at home with three rounds of 12gauge your in bigger trouble than you thought

Well yeah it would be fun to shoot, but what's the #1 priority for any self/home defense firearm? That it goes 'BANG!' every time. Something the Saiga is not known for. They are showing up in 3 gun competitions, but only after spending $2000-3000 making them run right/reliably. Sorry but I'd take a Benelli M4, Remington 870, Mossberg 500/590 any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Or all three, and still have money left over.

If you need/want more rounds, look at the KelTec KSG, though that is still somewhat unproven as well.

Now that does look badass!

Thanks Pete.. that is what I was looking for.. I hadn't heard about the poor reliability..
I currently have a Mossy 500 with the short barrel next to my bed (sans plug). Maybe I'll just stick with that..

I'm just tryin to figure out what my next firearm purchase is gonna be.....

I always go with a "Pump", that way you don't have to worry about it being ammo selective.

I have 3 pumps, and really like shooting shotguns...

I love the AA-12, but at 12k a pop fully auto I doubt I'll ever see one.

I looked into the saiga's but your going to be at $1200 or so to get one that's tit's on..

Sooooooo that lead me to a remington 1100 autoloader.

A REALLY ******* BADASS REMINGTON 1100

I figure about $750 for the gun, and another $200-500 to set it all up!!!

Now that my pants feel funny, is that Remington 1100 picky about what it cycles?

That is what keeps me away from autos...I like to buy ammo that's on sale, not what my gun likes

That and the fact I know too little about them.

I ran an 11/87 police model for a while. Unless you were shooting full power OO buck or slugs it wouldn't cycle. I'm still waiting for the perfect 12 gauge.

Speaking of tromix, has anyone her been hands on with a MKA-1919?

I hear they're about to start customizing them as well as the saiga's

I don't own a Saiga yet, but it is in my want list. The Gun Rack had one last time I was in there, but it hasn't been converted yet & I'm not sure if I want to undertake that much modification on my own.

They do seem like they would be a ton of fun!

I agree... I've seen some tromax guns at around the 1000-1200 mark.. seems like fun.

I'm running a Tromix Built Saiga 12. It runs great. Once Tony Rumore starts building/customizing MKA1919's; he's only making parts right now.
