Just bought a Winchester 1897 12 ga. shotgun, its a riot gun 1905 D series anybody ever had one? Thinking of putting it in my travel trailer when camping up in Quartzville area.See a lot of bears and cats while mining up there. 00 buck should take care of about anything up there.

If it's a real, 1897 riot gun, I wouldn't do anything but put it in a locked case. If it's a commercial 1897 that has been modified to look like the WW1 trench gun, then yeah, slugs are great for bears. The trench gun is fairly rare and expensive, hence very common to find fakes. Norinco also made a fairly credible copy of it for several years.
