So my gf's mom & dads place got broken into yesterday, Monday.

The items that were taken were insignificant; tv and a few other small items
but
Some ammo was also taken.

Here's the thing. There was a lot of ammo taken that was for his big guns, a S&W 500.
about 250 rounds or so. Also about 250 rounds of 357 mag....the 357 rounds are a little more common and probably wont be an alarming thing if someone was to come to you and offer them up or if you were to see them on local craiglist or the like.
however
I can't imagine, and it's probably due to my ignorance about how often 50 cal rounds are sold on the private market, but....if you happen to notice 50 cal rounds coming up for sale somewhere soon, please contact me. I'd like to take a personal look into the people who are selling a large quantity of this caliber of rounds.

If i'm way out of whack on the fact that 50 cal rounds come up for sale in the private market often, please tell me i'm barking up the wrong tree.

The other type of rounds that would be not very common imo, would be rounds for a 454 Casull.

the count of rounds that are uncommon are

200-250 50 cal rounds for a 500 S&W
250-300 rounds for a 454 Casull

Please, if you happen to see anything thats out of the ordinary in the private market, along the lines of these types of rounds.....contact me, i'd greatly appreciate it.

I've yet to see any significant amount of 500 S&W on the local market. I peruse a couple of the local gun boards and will keep my eyes open. Sucks to hear about the break in.
