i bought a new scope for my 30-06 that has pre set yardage dots on the verticle cross hair for every 100 yards up to 500 yards. alot of companies are making them these days it seems but i got mine from Burris. I guess they are calling them a "ballistic recticle". anyways, a few weeks back i set up targets every 100 yards out to 500 and made sure they were accurate with my range finder. sighted dead center at 100 then proceeded to shoot multiple rounds at the targets up to 500. i'm not sure why i felt like it wouldn't work, but it did. the scope does everything it claims. i'm now extremely confident about taking a 500 yard shot at an animal. hopefully i get the opportunity this year.
