There is an IDPA match this Saturday the 15th at the Renton Fish & Game Club range.

I'll be there and can help anyone new get through the match.

All you need is a handgun, 9mm or larger caliber. A good IWB or OWB holster that is easy to reholster with one hand, no soft collapsible holsters, shoulder holsters, cross draw or fanny pack holsters. You will be drawing and reholstering all day.

Bring at least 3 mags or 4 speed loaders if shooting a revolver and 150-200 rounds of ammo. There will be 6 or 7 stages.

Match fee is $15, match starts about 10am but new shooters have to be there before 8am for the New Shooter Orientation that starts at 8am.

Hope to see you guys there!!

Damon, thanks for inviting me out to this. I had a really good time and intend to be back for the January meet. :)

Looks like I need to join IDPA before going to a 2nd match. I'll see what that entails.

I'm looking forward to seeing how I scored. It'll be interesting to see how I compare the next time. I feel like the guys that go to the race track for the first time and put down a 2:00+ lap. But by the end of the day I felt much more confident and comfortable -- got down to the mid 1:50's, to keep with the lap time analogy.

I'm anticipating getting into the 1:40's my next time out. ;)

Real quick, if I join IDPA does that membership work for all of the ranges?

It was great to see you out there!!

Paul Bunyan in Puyallup this Saturday is the next one.

When you join IDPA you can shoot anywhere at any match in the world, not just the in US by just paying the match fee.

I joined IDPA. Just waiting for my ID. :)

I assume I still need to do new shooter orientations at every new place I want to shoot at though, right?

Yeah, you pretty much need to do the New Shooters meeting anytime you shoot at a range/match you haven't shot before. But its really up to the Match Director, I've been to a couple where I've told them I've shot IDPA before and they just pointed out the safety areas.

And there one thing I forgot to say before..... MOVE!!!

At WCA they didn't require me to do the new shooter training tonight. But then again, they see me all the time there.

I had another good time with it and didn't get yelled at once -- not even to MOVE! (But that wasn't part of the CoFs...)

I got my match sheet (or whatever it's called) and am interested in how I did compared to others. You'll be happy to hear I didn't get ANY procedural points. :)

But I wasn't able to hit the swinging target. Bastard... :(

Those swinging targets are hard to hit!

I couldn't make it last night. But I'll be at the Puyallup match Saturday.

I can't believe I overslept this morning...

Please tell me the day sucked for everyone and it was a blessing that I missed the match.
