They're not buying 1.6 billion rounds, they're putting the option on it. This isn't about prepping for "civil war" this is about controlling the ammosupply in the US. These options will keep ammo prices inflated and supply low for the rest of us.

The MRAP's are ex-mil through the DLA (DRMO) which is actually good for tax payers. They don't have 2700 - they have 32. Do swat teams need that spec? No but it beats the federal government scrapping half million dollar machines and spending another $350k a pop on Lencoe Bearcats.

So to summarize, it's shitty, but not tinfoil hat shitty.....yet.

I happen to speak "Rob" (and am also a little drunk). Let me see if I can help.

Paragraph 1: They didn't buy anything. They're just freezing all of the ammo with an order in case they want to buy it in the future. Screws you and me.

Paragraph 2: The vehicles they're buying (armored military, mine-"proof") was actually misrepresented. They didn't buy 2700 of them, that was actually an order placed by the USMC and totally disrelated. They bought 32 of them -- and only because they got a sweet deal on the ones being brought back from the sandbox, slated to be **** canned. Looks bad, but isn't.

Paragraph 3: Not good. But not bad.

So, just out of curiosity,

do the ammo suppliers have some kind of contract with the US Government that requires them to fill Government orders first?

I think it's time the manufacturers stepped up to the plate and backed the people first.

"I think it's time the manufacturers stepped up to the plate and backed the people first."

I would sure like to see all of the military-industrial complex guarantee not less than 2/3rds of production go to the civilian market. Govt should never have an advantage here for any reason political or otherwise.
