So I am a long time lurker, just really never had much interesting to say. So some back story I own a travel trailer that I was living in on a private piece of property and there were complaints made blah, blah , blah, I got a ticket and moved it. So I now moved just the trailer out to a private piece of property a friend owns. I havent stayed there since I moved it. A few day later I catch some photos on the game cam, of the sherieff and the county inspectors in the driveway past posted no trespassing signs they left no idication they were there no business cards left by either agency. I contacted both agencies and was told they were out investigating someone living out there. Well the property owner had put in a septic system (I have never hooked up to dump into I pay to get it sucked out ) and they didnt like that. So fast-forward two weeks to this last sunday. I am on my way back to my parents from the grocery store to make breakfast. I Am buzzing along up hill in a 35mph i was zone going a little faster ( my speedos off 94 S10) as im going up the hill I see the sherieff and immediatly let off the gas. I see him flip around, by this time im already at the speed limit, he follows me for antoher mile before he flips on the lights. I pull completly off the road, he pulls in behind sticking half way into passing traffic. I had my insurance, registration, and license. I moved from Iowa a while back so I have a Iowa DL, I also hand him a WA ID with and old address but is still owned by family. he questions me about my address I told him I had Just moved in With my Parents and just knew the street number. He returns to his car. A few minutes later he returns to my car and starts with "the main thing today I needed to slow down and he wasnt going to give me a ticket." Im thinking awsome great in the clear. He than proceeds to ask about my trailer that He visited with the county inspectors. I informed him that I moved the trailer there to house my pitbull, that doesnt get along with my parents small dogs. He asks about the improvments that the land owner had been making. I replied to him I had no knowledge of what he was doing because it was the land owner not I who was making them. He asked if I had a way of contacting him. I replied i did and than proceed to get it from my phone. At this Point his attitude started to shift and he proceeds to start to tell me I have to move my trailer, I am Not to be shooting on the property because its against the law and other things. At this time I told him I didnt want to awnser any more questions with out a lawyer and if he was not going to charge me with anything i would like to be on my way. he responded I couldnt untill he told me I could. At this point I was growing more Agitated and partially scared of what the situation could become, so i asked if he could call for a superior or another officer. he ignored my request and continued to tell me about how i needed to leave that property. At this time i thought it pertinent to capture this on film so i did the following is what happened than.kitsap county sherieff possible harrasment? - YouTube After the video he walks back to his car for a second time and shuts his engine off. At this point i am full on paranoid because I dont know the mind set of this officer and he hasnt asked for back up, so I figured its best to make a record of me asking for assistance so i called 911 to ask for a supervisor and was told to deal with the officer that was there and they would put out a call. I than called my step dad to come down the road just in case it went south for me. so 15 mins go by and he gets out of his car and starts to walk up to my window. thats when i started the second video DSCN0048 - YouTube. he starts to tell me about the ticket and if i understood i asked if he could show me the device in wich he used to measure my speed he told me he wouldnt. he than started to walk back to his car and i asked for his badge number he replied it was on the ticket. I admit at this point i lost my cool and started yelling some sarcastic remarks about what a great job he wa doing (i know, i know not my finest thought). At this point he gets back in his car, I proceed to wait for him to pull out and away so he doesnt pull in right behind me again, he doesnt move. for about 3 mins hes just sitting there no lights half way into traffic. thats when my step dad pulls up onto the other side of the roads shoulder. We start talking for a bit and thats when the officer gets back out of his car and threatens to arrest me if i dont leave cause im now making a scene while he is standing in the middle of a two lane major road. my step dad yells at me so that s when i break contact.

So im looking for Honest opinions is this harassment. An Officer of the law telling me to stop legal actions and to hold me to interrorgate me about my trailer after I declined to awnser question? Oh and the ticket was for 41 in a 35. Thanks for your time.

In my personal experience with Law Enforcement is like an interaction with a drill Sgt. Lots of yes sirs and nodding and yes sir and yes sir. No smiling just lots of respect regardless of how much of an ass they are. I haven't had a ticket in over 10 years and have a great report with my local LEOs.

I have done plenty of stupid things and what not, but generally just get told don't be an idiot and I just take it. They are probably out at your friend's place cause he doesn't have a permit for the septic or something and your trailer is out there. So they are going to want to talk to you just to get an idea of the situation.

I'm not sure if I would call it harassment, but maybe an officer being an a$$ or something.

Good luck and hopefully they don't keep bugging you since you are on their radar now.

Cheers

Not actually hearing both sides of the conversation it's hard to make a judgment. My best friend has over 20yrs in the department. He sometimes relates some of the encounters with the public. Never argue with an officer, don't be reaching around. Yes Sir No Sir, has never failed me in over 46 years of driving. (not always being a good citizen) Their Badge # is on the citation, asking him just indicates your questioning his authority and looking for trouble. You asked for opinions, so you get mine, your likely as much at fault for escalating the situation as him. Didn't you first say that you were only going to receive a warning? You kept digging in, in your own words becoming louder and more aggressive. BTW they can place you under arrest, for the story you related; May not hold up in court, but you lost the day, wasted monies on bail. There is a record of the incident, you Sir are now on the radar. As far as the zoning laws and "What have you." Some neighbor complained, didn't you mention something about shooting? Likely the property you were parked on, the owner has had issues with his neighbors; And their just looking for an excuse to cause him/you trouble. I have found that if one does it "By the Book" one has nothing to worry about. Start pushing the envelope and the system pushes back. When I first purchased my land over 20 yrs ago, I had a range. Over time folks have build around me, so in respect/safety for others do my practice at the range. Costs only $30.00 per yr, and has 500 meter targets...AJ

After watching those videos I would say that was a very mellow and in control deputy. Your concern over his "mindset" was complete BS, you were looking to stir the pot.

Sorry Johnny Cochran, you failed the street lawyer bar exam.
