They were standing at the gate, 20 feet from the road, shooting down a canyon, down a road. I heard a couple ricochets and that was it. I whistled on my emergency whistle, I yelled, whistled again. Finally got them to stop shooting.
By the time I walked up to them, the one had his rifle laying down, action open, but the open action laying in the dirt.
I told them that this road with fresh tire tracks and foot prints was NOT a shooting area, despite what "a couple guys and a cop" told them. Would have given them a better lecture, but I was out of breath and full of adrenaline.
Did I mention that I was walking back up the road in that canyon? JFC. Backstops. Get off the road. It's EASY to shoot legally and safe out there, but they didn't ******* know. City kids in a Honda sedan with an old Mosin.
