well, I've never been there...so, I'm not sure how much of a buzz kill it really is...

I'm looking for a new spot to go shoot a few rounds (like srsly 22 total rounds), that spot looked a mile or 2 closer than the spot I used to go...

Hello? Candace? Laurie?

I’m trying to be responsible here and not cause any problems for anyone…

Is there an info line I could call?

Thanks,

Jeff Holbrook
and shortly got back:

Quote:
Hello Mr. Holbrook-

I am sorry we didn’t get back to you this morning – I truly appreciate you taking time to contact us and try to do the right thing. While we are currently not directly people to a specific location on DNR managed lands, there are some general guidelines that we encourage people to follow to help ensure a safe experience. We ask that you do not shoot near residences nor in the direction of residences; do not shoot near or across a roadway; use an area with an earthen backstop; don’t shoot after dark; please don’t shoot at our timber or at our small trees; please pick up your spent ammunition; and please be aware of others around you. Also, if there is a gate in place, please walk in and don’t block the gate. Thanks again for taking time to contact us – I apologize we didn’t get back to you this morning (or yesterday when I see your email came in). Please let me know if you have further questions. Thank you – take care. Laurie

Seems like they don't mind people shooting as long as it's on DNR land and they're smart about it.

I need a map of DNR owned land now.

Jeff - I found the Washington DNR website, but not sure how to navigate around finding places. Could you please be of some assistance? I'd appreciate it.

find yourself a good map that includes public lands.

land ownership is public record, look in your hunting regs for map sources, and get ahold of the DNR (they respond to emails!).

did your MSN window not ding?

hold on, I'll resend it...

Any chance the Sultan Pit will open up in the near future??? I shot there regularly and people just go nuts with their large caliber weapons, so it gets really annoying for nearby residences.

Sultan Basin has been shut down since 2005, There are a couple of great spots up in and around Index but we keep those under wraps because we dont want people hauling shit up there and dumping it which is why all the good spots have been shut down. Due to littering assholes. There's another place up North of Mt.Vernon that is supposed to be really nice and totally legal I'll try to dig out the directions to that place.
