Ammo price?

I just purchased my first handgun today and have no clue about prices for ammo. What's considered cheap/fair price for plinking rounds of 45 auto?

$18-20 a box. You picked one of the more expensive calibers to own.

9MM is about $13 a box. .40 SW is about $15-18 per box.

Unless you buy in bulk of 500 rounds or more. Then it's a little cheaper.

you can find cheaper stuff online... and it gets a little less expensive if you buy a bunch!

This is true.

Sometimes shipping costs effectively outstrip the savings of online purchasing. Free shipping is the best.

Buy in store and you don't have to wait.

But with free shipping and a good price. You have time to forget about the purchase. When it shows up it's like Christmas, AND you didn't have to deal with the stupid public.

Try ammoseek.com and gunbot.net. They are a good indicator of prices.
