Here is my new addition to the family.

It's a Rock River LAR-15. I am getting some Pmags for it right away and then...??? I am a little overwhelmed with all of the gear that is available for these things. Suggestions?

If the grip is hard plastic, Hogue Rubber Grips are my first move

EDIT: Looking closer at your photo....I think you already have them?

I know what you mean. I think I will just get a sling, some sort of optics, maybe a quad rail to put a vertical grip on with a tactical light, and call it good.

Sounds like you pretty much got it. Maybe add a verticle grip that has a quick release bipod inside of it? I bought mine 6 months ago and am really happy with it.

Black Rifle Appreciation Thread

Well I guess you call it assmebled in lu of built my first AR 15 consists of upper first
1. MEGA ARMS forged upper receiver
Rock River bolt and carrier group
DPMS delta ring, barrel nut, gas block, hand guard and flash hider
TNT Weaponry chrome-moly M4 contour 1:9 barrel
The lower is all rock river 2 stage trigger and 6 position nothing fancy

MY second is and Armalite upper description below

Model: M-15A4 Carbine Complete Upper Assembly with Black Handguard
Caliber: .223/5.56 X 45 mm NATO
Barrel: 16" Double Lapped, Chrome Lined\Chrome Moly Vanadium MIL-B-11595-E
Rifling Twist: RH 1:9"
Muzzle Device: Flash Suppressor, Threading:1/2" - 28
Front Sight Base: Gas Block with Picatinny Rail Top of gas block is .293 (+/-) lower than top of upper receiver
Upper Receiver: Forged Flattop with Picatinny Rail, 7075-T6 Aluminum
Finish: Hard Anodized Aluminum, Manganese Phosphated Steel

and the lower is PLUMB CRAZY
when I was looking at these lowers I got to thinking Composite well several of my hand guns are composite and they work just fine so anyway it also comes with a life time warranty transferable
I don't see anywhere to post pic's on the thread starter I'll say they are both Black.

Here's my Mega MA-TEN (AR 308) weighing 11lbs 2oz. It took 4-months to assemble due to cashflow. Put 50-rounds through it last weekend with zero issues and it has less recoils than my RRA AR15.

Currently running an EOTECH 512 until I can decide on Optics. Eyeballing the Vortex Viper PST MRAD Line of optics.

  • Mega MA-TEN Upper/Lower Billet Receiver
  • Rainier Arms Select 18" Barrel
  • PRI Adjustable Low-Profile Gas Block
  • PRI Carbon Fiber Rifle Length Forearm w/ SPR Top Rail

Almost finished with the Rock River. I also have the Magpul MS2 sling and ASAP to mount it that I am going to put on as soon as I pick up a castle nut wrench. Then I will be done. I think I am going to stick with the open sights for a while.

Finally finished upgrading the RRA Operator with the final mod being getting an aimpoint comp m2 and replacing the Chinese scope. Also swapped out the half quad for a yankee hill free float quad rail and some magpul flip up sights. Yankee Hill Suppressor.
