It's kinda up to you which one you choose & what price range you want to be in, but all of these companies make good stuffs. DPMS Sun Devil S&W Rock River Armalite Bushmaster Stag Tactical Innovations POF Noveske Sabre Defense & I'm sure there are other good lowers available. I have an affinity for billet parts so personally I would choose a Tactical Innovations, POF or Sun Devil billet lower. You can't go wrong with any of these companies products though. As long as the lower is in spec, you will be just fine. I know PKFirearms.com has some Rock River blems for pretty cheap right now. http://www.pkfirearms.com/content/1/20/78/100 Last edited by FatFugg; 01-06-2010 at 07:19 PM. |

Go to Surplus Ammo & Arms in Lakewood. They have Aero Precision lowers (made in Tacoma) along with a DPMS lower parts kit for like $119 I believe it is. Give them a buzz to verify the price. :) |

fugg pretty much summed it up. what's your price range.. here's a couple thing's I think about when building an AR. A. am I building a MONSTER B. am I building to a budget if the scenario is A then it might take me several months to a year to save up to buy all the parts.. in that case, I'd go Noveske, POF or Sabre Defence if the scenario is B then you need to look at the sum total and work backwards to see what you can afford for each set of parts.. stripped lowers can go from under $100 if you wait long enough to over $300. you can find a stag, rock river, or DPMS close to a hundred if you hunt around. |

So I guess my next question is what all different calibers will fit in the mag well of a 5.56? Basiclly what my "plan" is, is to build a rifle that will shoot 5.45 first (i shoot a hell of alot), then later buy an upper for a "bigger" cartrige. I figure since they are so modgular Ill build one they eventually turn that one into two rifle and so one. ...thoughts? |

Not to be a dick but please post your own thread question, I hate it when people piggy back there question on other peoples discusions.

After seeing a response mention this brand I assumed any answer to my question may give the poster insight for his future purchase. Just trying to keep this AR lower conversation going.

There are a few differences between lowers mfg out there, but you need to know that many of the AR-15 lowers are made by the same shop and then sold to DPMS, Wilson, Bushmaster,ECT. Here is a guide Lewis Machine & Tool makes •LMT •Lauer •DS Arms •PWA •Eagle •Armalite •Knights Armament •Barrett Continental Machine Tool "CMT" makes •Stag •Rock River Arms •High Standard •Noveske •Century (New) •Global Tactical •CLE •S&W •MGI •Wilson Tactical •Grenadier Precision •Colt LAR Manufacturing makes •LAR •Bushmaster •Ameetec •DPMS •CMMG •Double Star •Fulton Armory •Spike's Tactical I use CMT lowers, theres nothing wrong with the others but CMT seems to work well for me. I buy "Jard" triggers for them and they are awesome. The CMT lowers seem to match up well with most uppers on the market. |

The best AR money can buy is only good when your in a canoe going through some rapids on your way yo a 500 foot waterfall and you lose your ore and your ar has a wide stock that can be used instead.
