Why become an NRA member?

When I was younger, I wanted to join the NRA because I knew it stood for liking guns, but in reality, what benefits do you get for being an NRA member?

Being an NRA member, are the benefits enough to make it worth joining compared to the cost of being a member?

Absolutely. the magazine subscription alone is worth it lol. On top of that you can get discounts to certain places if you flash your nra member card. The most important thing though, your money goes to the nra to help combat gun control legislature and push for gun rights in every state.

NRA also helps 'Watch Dog' the people who feel its up to them to protect people from their 2nd amendment rights. The Anti-gun people.
One reason this country was never invaded during WW2 was the fear that every American was armed and knew how to use their guns. The invaders figured their losses would have been too high.

NRA is good if you believe in giving tons of money to a group that has been right in with the anti gunners when laws are being made. The NRA is not a "any gun control" is bad they are "gun control is good if we say so". If it has to do with hunting, kids and ranges they are good. If it comes to a stance of the 2A actual means "shall NOT be infringed" NRA does NOT agree and would be out of business.

Here is just ONE of the many articles about the bad NRA does from a No compromise group, Keep and Bear Arms - Gun Owners Home Page - 2nd Amendment Supporters

Do a search on "bad things NRA does" and you will see for yourself.

While I don't agree with the NRA on every position on every issue, there is no other group with the same power and influence to protect the 2nd Ammendment.

I will also support other organizations with more "No compromise" stances, but I think it is important to continue to support the NRA as well.

I don't know what "tons of money" means but a year membership is $35.

four million NRA members multiplied by $35 a year = "metric shiton of money"

I support groups that suport gun ownership.. NRA might not be perfect.. but who is?

I guess I should rephrase my statement. They spend more money a year sending you flyers and calling you to donate more money each year then you spend on a membership :hmmmm2:

Dont get me wrong. I never said "dont support the NRA" I said KNOW what you are supporting before you choose to.

They gladly took my money but never sent me my membership or magazines.

After 4 emails to them, and 2 written letters, I gave up on them.

Definitely do as much homework as you can before you give your money to them just as you should any time you think about giving money to a cause. I personally like it and what I believe it stands for.
