I watched the video! I like the Zombie shotgun shells.

So, is this just a Halloween promotional item or was it literally made with zombies in mind, for when SHTF?

Well here's the thing. Like you said, the pistol ones are green tipped critical defense, in the lower FPS LE version. And they seem to be LESS EXPENSIVE! A fun gimmick? Maybe. But a rock solid defense round at a great price in a fun package! If I see it, I'll buy a pack or two because it's a great round at a great price! I'll save the box as a hoot. But the rounds are no joke!

never said it was a bad thing, i most likely will buy a few boxes...

My apologies. I thought I read negativity in your post. I hope it hangs around for more than just halloween. Or at least becomes an annual tradition. The prices I'm seeing online are 10% than critical defense.

So is a hollow point expanding bullet really the best thing for zombies? Let's not forget the ONLY thing that kills zombies is head shots to the brain. Normal talk of expansion, penetration depth, wound cavities, etc are all moot as any and all shots to the torso are a waste of ammo. I always figured FMJ rounds would be best for penetrating skulls, and 9mm being plenty of gun for the job, with high capacity being a lot more important than 'one stop shot' silliness (that is frankly silly with normal human bad guys as it is).

Think Springfield XDm with 19+1 capacity, carry a few extra mags and you've got near a hundred rounds on hand without a lot of weight or bulk. For a rifle a lightweight M4 style AR with some kind of red dot/holo sight or low power like 1-4x or fixed 4x (ACOG even better) scope would be ideal.

Just sayin.

Well lots of humans survive headshots with FMJ... Lots of modern zombie lore stresses the simple headshot, but classic zombie cannon calls for "destroying the brain" or removal of the head. I'm assuming you want some "liquifaction" occuring after penetration. A JHP traveling at better than 900 FPS seems like a good combo for getting in, and getting busy... It's all just conjecture until it happens...

Well that's the problem, isn't it? Until such time as someone is able to perform an autopsy (if that term even applies??) to a zombie, we can't know for sure what the kill shot needs to be. Just scramble the brain? Or does the brain stem need to be damaged/severed? One could argue for the old .22 at fairly close range, it will likely go in, but not come out, instead bounce around a bit first.

I spose we could just go with a "better safe than sorry" approach, and stick with larger caliber rifles that will pretty much destroy a skull on impact. A .308 AR or similar would do nicely in that case.
