5 hurt in accidental shootings at 3 US gun shows
2 hr ago

(My personal opinion, "They don't make a convincing argument for responsible gun owners.")

Accidental shootings at three guns shows in the U.S. Saturday wounded five people, including three who were hurt in one incident in Raleigh, N.C.

Authorities say five people have been wounded by gunfire at three separate gun shows around the United States.

Three people were injured Saturday in Raleigh, N.C., at the Dixie Gun and Knife Show, a quarterly event that usually draws thousands of people. State agriculture department spokesman Brian Long says a 12-gauge shotgun discharged as its owner unzipped its case for a law enforcement officer to check at a security entrance.

Two bystanders were hit by shotgun pellets and taken to a hospital. A retired deputy sheriff suffered a slight hand injury.

Long says the shotgun's owner, 36-year-old Gary Lynn Wilson, brought the weapon to the show to find a private buyer. Sheriff Donnie Harrison says it's too early to know whether Wilson might be charged.

In Indiana, police say a 54-year-old Indianapolis man was injured when he accidentally shot himself while leaving a gun show.

State Police say Emory L. Cozee was loading his .45 caliber semi-automatic when he shot himself in the hand as he was leaving the Indy 1500 Gun and Knife show at the state fairgrounds. Loaded personal weapons are not allowed inside the show.

Cozee was hospitalized for treatment. Police say the shooting was accidental and no charges will be filed.

Meanwhile, authorities in Ohio say a man was wounded at a gun show in Medina when a gun dealer was checking out a semi-automatic handgun he had bought and he accidentally pulled the trigger.

Police say the gun's magazine had been removed from the firearm but one round remained in the chamber.

Police Chief Pat Berarducci says it appears the bullet struck the floor and the man was wounded in the arm and leg. Berarducci says the man was taken by helicopter to a Cleveland hospital. His condition was not immediately known.

I love how the mainstream is linking this to the rally. no bias there.

Still fewer shot than at an occupy wall street demonstration and no one got raped.

My wife is watching a program on YouTube while I browse. I just overheard the person talking about going to a gunshow recently and how the line to get in was about a mile long. It normally gets 1200 people. This year saw many thousands show up...

Heck, I went to the Puyallup (WAC) show yesterday….in a word… WOW !!!! I got there at 8am on Saturday, the line of cash-paying folks was already a block long (and growing)!! Once inside the fairgrounds, the line of people to join WAC was out the door and down the side of the building. Once inside the pavilion, I noticed that the show area had increased a third again. Like I have recently seen at my LGSs, the prices are higher (though there are still some deals to be had), there was a lot of brisk business being done. I wonder how many folks will be at the show today (Sunday)????:hmmmm2:

Gun show shootings

Might be better to classify these as negligent shootings rather than accidents.
You all know that you can't fix stupid - but you can try to minimize it.

Pilots have takeoff and landing checklists...might be tedious, but you only need to screw up once to have a really bad day.

Remember Jeff Coopers rules:
RULE I: ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

RULE II: NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO DESTROY

RULE III: KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

RULE IV: BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET

Someone forgot about rule #1.:hmmmm2:

I heard the shotgun round that injured three was fired by a deputy or police officer trying to clear the weapon. No other details but as any of you who forward deployed know, the clearing areas are the best place in country to get shot. Too many distractions and not enough respect for the weapon.

120 kids a day are hurt in their bath tubs. With 80 million firearms owners in the country and new owners by the thousands every day a few accidents are almost required just by random numbers.

That may be true. But, the Prez. won't try and restrict bath tubs.
And there are just as many households with bath tubs.
