Also, why would you need to rack the slide? If you are carrying a semi auto for protection, you should have one in the pipe!

Some don't though. Looking at his comments inline I get that he will from this point forward.

But it's interesting to see this from the perspective of a concealed carry person, abiding by the law in a "gun free" zoned city. I know NY isn't Chicago, but there was no reciprocity available to him...

+1, I ALWAYS carry with one in the pipe, the split second it takes for you to rack one into the chamber could mean the difference between life and death. There are many good reasons to keep a round chambered, in case you're grappling and unable to use both hands, the list goes on and on..

Sorry didn't mean to confuse. My two small revolvers once loaded only need to pull the trigger and have NEVER jammed even if fired from a coat pocket

.38spl +P and .44spl

Well, it sounds like the guy did several things wrong. Moral of the story is, don't let girls/emotions compromise your situational awareness.
