Tacoma council votes for background checks on gun buys on city property | Local News | The Seattle Times

"
All firearm purchases at gun shows on Tacoma city property now require a background checks of buyers.

The Tacoma City Council unanimously approved the change Tuesday, closing the so-called gun-show loophole for events using city space.

I am pretty sure they are violating state preemption. And how is it possible there was noone there to speak against this? Maybe because they didn't announce or publicise the vote at all because they didn't want anyone there to speak against it?

What do you guys think? Will they get away with it, and who can file a lawsiut to repeal their little rule?

I'm sure someone will challenge it and I can't imagine it will be upheld or it would be passing all over in big liberal cities. And I should think that either the attorney general or a citizen can file the lawsuit.

People will meet JUST over the city limits, hand the gun over, and then go back in? Feel good worthlessness indeed.

It's not the city limits but city owned property so if they were to use the concert venue at the casino the city has no say according to the ordinance.
