The Mosquito is going to be much like my daughters Walther P22 in that it only likes the higher quality ammo. It'll jam continually with the cheaper stuff.

Another auto to consider is the Ruger Mk lll

Ruger® MarkIII™ Rimfire Pistols

If you're looking for a plinker/target pistol, what about a revolver? I've had my Smith mdl 43 for over 40 years and love it. S&W makes several .22's in both the smaller J frame, and the medium sized K frame. All good choices;

Small Frame (J) - Smith & Wesson

Another good choice would be a Ruger Single Six. I have a stainless with a 6.5" barrel, and it shoots very well.

This gun is simply fun to shoot based on a 10/22 it can shoot 20-50 round mags
Youll shoot great with cheap ammo and incredible with the good stuff

you can shoot cheep ammo in the mosquito but it needs to be well lubed, if its not fmj.
if you get cheep fmj it will shoot just fine.

if you want to go shooting to test it out let me know and we can meet up sometime so you can check it out to make sure its what you want.

Thanks for the input guys.

Yeah, I'm now looking at the S&W M&P22 -- just because of reviews about the Mosquito being finicky. And I've only heard the opposite about the M&P...
