I live in Vancouver WA and frequently walk my dog on Burnt Bridge Trail. I have a CCP and usually carry on the trail because someone was stabbed there last year. Today my dog and I were harassed by a loose Pit Bull. No matter how much I yelled at him he kept making advances at us. He got about 6 ft from us and I was out of options to stop him from wanting to attack my dog. I fired a warning shot into the ground and he took off. I could see the owner in a parking lot at an apartment building ushering his dog in. Was the warning shot illegal? If so, what should I have done to protect my dog and possible myself.
