Been reading the forums for awhile and decided to sign up. Long time gun enthusiast, new to the ownership side. Currently only have a Smith & Wesson M&P subcompact .40cal and absolutely love it. Looking to get something bigger, currently shopping around for an AR-15, found a lot of useful info here!!

Glad to have you.

You might need to wait a bit on that AR (unless you don't mind spending a bit of coin). Until this current gun control issue is put to bed, I don't see any $700 ARs cropping up anytime soon. ;)

Before all this madness what was the average price of a good AR? I'm currently seeing $900-$3000. A friend of mines father inlaw offered to build him (and hopefully me) an AR for $700. I told him if he doesn't I'd would definitely like one. He said he'd give me a call to go test fire one of the AR's he's built...still waiting for that damn call!!

I've been seeing things around double of their "normal" price. A bare-bones M&P/Bushmaster had an MSRP of $700/$800 but I've seen them going for $1500+. Others that would have sold for $1200/$1500 are going for upwards of $3000...
