Hey all! :hello:

My family and I just moved to Washington, from Idaho. We really enjoy shooting, all of us, hubby and kids included. In Boise, we could shoot just about anywhere! We just went out to the desert or into the hills and started shooting. Granted, we've only been here about 6 weeks but the only shooting that I know about is some guy shooting on his property around here somewhere. lol I'd like to find a place like that here but have no clue. So I decided to see if there was a gun enthusiast forum site that maybe I could get to know some people in. We also enjoy offroading and just being outdoors. So come say hello, introduce yourself and see if we can't all get together and have some good times!

Also, I'm very much a noob here, so any advice you wanna give to make me feel welcome would be most appreciated!! :dontknow:

Yo, Payette County native and Nampa transplant here.

The "just go shooting" laws are the same, but the off-roading laws are VERY MUCH NOT.

I've found a few places that are open to just go shooting, and no, I won't tell you where they are.

But, what you'll need to look for is state (DNR) or federally (USFS) owned land. There really is plenty, and you just need to know where to look. Lots of places have maps of what is owned by which agency.

Don't shoot on/across, or within 150 feet of roads, 500 feet of campsites or occupied areas, know your backstop, and be safe.

Hint: Highway 2, passed Sultan.

Thank you!! Just got here, what seems like about 20 mins ago, from Meridian. lol I miss going behind the prison or up past Lucky Peak!! Ya, I've noticed offroading here isn't like at home, where I could grab a trail 10 mins out my front door. I was up Hwy 2, last weekend, thinking Reiters (?) looked like a good lead. But it wasn't. I did run into a couple guys that were hunting but looked just as lost as I was.

Thanks for the head's up!! It's appreciated!

Shooting and offroading near Reiter has changed a lot over the last few years. It's a whole lot of drama, but shooting is a big no-no, and the offroading opprtunities are very restricted. Be sure you know where you are if you're on a trail, and that it's legal, or it probably isn't.

Welcome to WA. I wish more reasonable seaming people like you, and less crazy Californians would keep moving here. Get to know a few people, and eventually some might trust you enough to show you their good spots. People just don't like advertising and getting the last few spots shut down.

I'll shoot anything. The gun that I have and am trying to get good at using is my Ruger P95. I can't shoot water out of a boat but I'm learning. lol I've only had the gun a little over a year. I need a lot of help, all of us are noobs but really enjoy the hobby. My son has an .22 LR. I'm better with accuracy with that but I like my gun better.

As for my reasonable side... LOL I'm an original Californian!!! LOL But I don't admit that often. I've lost my inner city ways and have become much more reasonable, so I hope I fit in here, just the same.

Now I understand why Koorbloh wouldn't tell me where to off roading! Oh geez.... Well, I found some of the better places in the Boise area, I'll find them here, too!

Thank you everyone for welcoming me! I might just try going into a forum and checking things out there, too. Thanks. ;)

Yeah... people are REAL quiet about local places to plink. The farther away from seattle you get, the more reasonable it becomes.

I really don't shoot anywhere around these days. It's better to drive over towards cle elum.. and up in the hills. Hundreds of miles of potential shooting. No headache.. or colorful 'locals' with a meth lab.
