Im not sure if this is where to post this, but I looked all around and it didn't seem like there was a better place.
I just bought my first gun, a springfield xds in 9mm. I haven't gotten around to shooting it yet, but since having it I have taken it apart several times and tried to learn how everything works with it. Eventually I decided to put a loaded mag into it and cock it to watch it seat the rounds into the chamber, which strangely it's not doing properly. The chamber end of the barrel is somewhat loose when the slide is fully pulled back (Idk if it's supposed to be this way? It seems somewhat intuitive though because it makes the angle better for the rounds to slide into it?). So if I pull the slide back when there is no mag in it, the back end of the barrel (chamber) drops down, but then gets pushed back up as the slide comes back forward and pushes it back into position. BUT, if there's a mag with ammo in the gun, the combination of that wiggle room of the chamber combined with the round trying to seat into it, it gets jammed up and the slide doesn't even return fully.
Like I said, I'm a complete noob with guns, but do have a tinkering mind so really wanted to play around with it. I don't know whether the barrel is supposed to be loose like that, and was hoping experienced users could wise me up. I unfortunately have no idea whether I caused this issue, but all I did was take it apart a few times, based on the way the manual described.
I could eventually take pictures if needed too, just thought I'd check first. Thanks a lot!
