FIST Holster

Please forgive this for sounding more like a rant, but I am extremely unhappy.
I ordered 2 holsters from Fist after reading several reviews raving about the quality of their product. My first clue should have been when I ordered over the phone and the woman I was talking to was acting like I was wasting her time and rushing me. I was told they should arrive in 6-8 weeks. 14 weeks later, It finally arrived. This was after several more phone calls which all lacked customer service. Finally it arrived and all the holsters fit extremely loosely. I suppose I should note that I ordered a pocket holster for my KelTec PF9 and an IWB for appendix for my springfield XDSC with crimson trace laserguard (They were one of the few I found who were able to make a holster for the XD with laserguard). Despite the loose fit, I decided to try them anyway (unloaded). The leather for the IWB was so thick you could even see the bulge with a fleece coat. The pocket holster had a thumb wedge that facilitated unholstering (one of the main reasons i ended up ordering from them). I have average size to large hands, the wedge was placed so high that I could barely get my thumb on it at all. It was even harder in my pocket. I called them back. This time I talked to Jim. He actually had people skills and convinced me to send them back for modifications. They are moving the wedge on the pocket holster and remaking the IWB in their "ultra-thin" kydex. I will post an update when they come in with how well those work out.

After that long a wait, I think you're due a rant! And then have them be a poor fit for specific weapons - that's bull. Hope you get a fix!

Just a note on the loose fit. With the kydex you can adjust the fit by heating it with a hair dryer until it gets soft, then molding to fit tighter.

I own at 9 FIST holsters . They are OK , but very thick grade leather. A Kydex holster cracked (never wore it/just holsterd the gun at night and put in store safe). I sent it back as they requested. They never called me back. I can't get an answer. You decide if you want to deal with them. Two + years and still waiting !!

Don't waste your money on Kydex. It cracks and Fist,Inc. doesn't stand behind it!!!! Save your money and buy a leather holster from Dillion, High Noon, or Mitch Rosen.

So you waited two years for us to call you back. Don't you think that is a bit long? Maybe you should think that something happened and you should try to contact us again. Please call us when you can and we will work this out. As far as Kydex breaking, sometimes it lasts for many years and some people have our Kydex holsters for ten years. Others don't last that long, but it is a trade off for how fantastically it works. I am always there to work things out.

I've never purchased a FIST holster so I can't comment on them.

However, I cannot recommend kydex enough.

Yes, it looks like crap compared to nice leather. But quality kydex does not look bad, and the performance benefits will outweigh fashion show sensibilities.

Of course my concern is winning a gun fight, not looking good for a magazine cover.

There are a lot of benefits to kydex but here are just a few.

It is FAST on the draw. Much faster than leather IMO.

It stays open which aids greatly in reholstering, a huge safety benefit (a lot of folks shoot themselves fumbling getting their gun back in the holster).

Easy to clean - run it under the faucet and dry it off. Doesn't stink like leather can start to (do you carry IWB on a hot day?)

Impervious to water, sweat, etc.

Crappy holsters are crappy whether they're leather or kydex. Regardless of what you buy, buy quality. I always scratch my heads at guys that will drop hundreds on a top quality pistol and then balk at a holster that's more than $30.

Can't speak to FIST but I've had good experience with Bladetech and G-code. Most comfortable holsters I have are made by Dale Fricke.

It's been a while that I've wanted to order the #42 DRIVING TO CROSSDRAW holster, and I just made the order a couple of days ago.

I decided to go for the belt and mag holster, as well, including some of the options available.
