first, I'm not sure if this is the right section or not, but I'm asking for Wa state in particular. when hunting Muzzle loader season is it legal to have the rifle loaded in the vehicle? since once the muzzle loader is loaded, it can't really be unloaded without firing (when I lived (and hunted) in VA, it wasn't really an issue we would load up the muzzle loaders at the begining of the season, and fire the rifles (at targets) on sunday (no hunting on sundays) and clean the rifles, re load monday morning before going out again) |

I know you can have any fire arm loaded in the vehicle as long as you have your carry permit. I know it is illegal to have a loaded hand gun in a vehilce with out a permit. Not sure if there is an exception for muzzle loaders. It is really easy to get your permit here.

been doing some research and this is kind of vague RCW 9.41.060: Exceptions to restrictions on carrying firearms. |

thanks, actually, in that reference: RCW 77.15.460: Loaded firearm in vehicle ? Unlawful use or possession ? Penalty. Quote:
so, if it's not "primed" (no percussion cap installed) it's not "Loaded" that's exactly what I needed

So, nothing in RCW 9.41.060 will allow loaded rifle carry in a vehicle. I think you are correct that an uncapped/unprimed (not a muzzle loader owner so I don't know the difference) muzzle loader is not considered loaded and therefore not prohibited by RCW 77.15.460.

then it doesn't say it doesn't allow a loaded rifle ![]() but I'd only transport without the primer anyways.

Since RCW 9.41.050 only applies to pistols, RCW 9.41.060's exceptions only apply to pistols. The only way that RCW 9.41.060's exceptions would apply to rifles would be if it referenced RCW 77.15.460, which is the section that controls loaded rifles in vehicles.

so if i'm on the way to the gun range i have a fighting chance of being ok for having my M6 loaded.
